In 2013, Earth day Miami, driven by its commitment to nurturing local initiatives, inaugurated the esteemed "Sustainability in Action" Award. This prestigious honor is a testament to the platform's steadfast dedication to celebrating and acknowledging exceptional endeavors within the community.

 

This accolade's distinguished recipients are renowned figures like Chef Lorena Garcia and respected institutions such as the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and Whole Foods Market. It also recognizes innovative initiatives such as Car 2 Go, Broward City B-cycle, Miami Bicycle Initiatives, and Deco Bike, embodying a commitment to sustainability and making tangible strides toward a more eco-conscious society.

About Luis Valenzuela


Luis Valenzuela, born in Caracas, Venezuela, embodies a multi-generational legacy of artists. A polymath, he excels as a Master Teaching Artist,  Art Curator, Visual Artist, Fashion Designer, and Journalist. A staunch advocate for sustainability, Valenzuela channels his passion through Art Education. A trailblazer in green art and eco-friendly fashion, he founded Earth day Miami in 2007 and introduced EcoArtFashion© in 2010. Notably, he initiated the inaugural EcoArtFashion Week™ in Miami in 2010, evolving into The Art of Fashion Show™ in 2013—a testament to the enduring synthesis of fashion and art. 2016 Valenzuela established The Creators Lab in Wynwood, Miami, a pioneering New Media Art research center. Beyond his artistic endeavors, Valenzuela passionately documents the social facets of humanity. Since 2010, he has collected almost 800 pairs of historical shoes, named "Memories," serving as an educational resource to enlighten future generations about the evolution of design. In 2022, Valenzuela realized his vision by founding the MIAMI Shoe Museum.
